WHO WE ARE

Rebecca Howie

Rebecca is a registered qualified nurse with a degree in Developmental Psychology.

She undertook three years post-graduate training to qualify in 1996 as a counsellor.

As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a graduate member of The British Psychological Society, she practices in accordance with their ethical standards.

She is also trained in Protective Behaviours and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) work.

Rebecca has worked for fourteen years in a variety of settings with children and families she also works as a sexual health advisor for young people.

She has two teenage children.

 

Michael McCoy

Michael trained originally as a social worker, obtaining a Master's Degree specifically in work with children and families in 1990.

Since then he has been employed in a range of settings including family support projects in the state and charitable sector.

He is a registered member of the General Social Care Council, the regulatory body for social care workers.

Michael is an accredited Pratice Teacher and also works as a trainer for health and social care professionals.

He has a young son.

 

Both Rebecca and Michael are practitioners of, and trainers in, the Parent-Child Game and have used this model of work on a regular basis for the last seven years. They have over ten years experience of working together.

They completed accredited training in Webster-Stratton group work with parents and have experience of setting up and facilitating many different kinds of parenting groups.

Both are trained in Solution Focused Therapy and ran a successful family therapy team for five years for the local authority.

Parent People is a corporate member of Parenting Uk the national organization for people who work with parents, promoting best practice.
